I admit it. I’m a true romantic. I love photographing couples, weddings, newborn babies, and of course precious pups in a love scene. So obviously Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. In fact, my last trip to the store I bought several “love” props to use, as I like to make each photo shoot new and unique. I also was able to find a couple of new baskets which I can decorate for any occasion. Love baskets, stuffed animals, bows, ribbons, and various symbols I can display to brighten up the backdrops and scenes I use.

Tomorrow I will be photographing a 14 day old baby boy in the Raw. Saturday I will be photographing a 6 week old baby girl, with lace and bows. Then I have a couple shoot. Whatever I’m shooting, I love photography, love getting those intimate personal up close shots that create memories that will last a lifetime.

Service Dog Gets New Boots

This is Molly and her owner Vick.

When Vick called saying he had to carry Molly home the other day due to cold and salt, my heart broke for them. He had no winter boots for Molly to protect her feet, and they had no transportation so they had to walk everywhere they went. Precious Portraits: Infants, Babies, Expectant Mothers

I’ve been really enjoying photography. Whether I’m doing a newborn photo shoot, maternity photo shoot, toddler photo shoot, or an entire family, it’s been a blast. And I’m learning so much.

Although Carson was a bit cranky for his newborn photo shoot a couple of weeks ago, he did settle down and allow me to get this amazing shot. With newborns you have to be both patient and quick. Sometimes they need to eat, have their diaper changed, be burped, and be held. But I loved every minute of it because of the magical shots I was able to get once baby was happy and comforted. Carson and his amazing mommy, Ashley have taught me so much.

I absolutely love taking toddler portraits too. This is Emma, what a precious gem, and such beautiful blue eyes. Her mommy, Crystal is amazing too. I’ve enjoyed the time I spent with them on our recent family photo shoot.

Emma’s smiling is amazing. Sometimes I’m laughing and smiling so much I forget that I’m actually working. I love being a photographer. Emma’s mommy, Crystal is expecting her third child, and I had the pleasure of taking her maternity portraits. I had such a blast.

Next time I’ll share my recent doggie photo shoot, with my 4 lb Teacup Yorkie, Lover. He was so good and sat and stayed in costume up on a table using many large props, which typically he is afraid of. I gave him lots of treats and free run time in between outfit changes. It was so much fun and amazing. I have to give you a little sample to wet your appetite.

Fun Family Photo Shoot

My first professional family photo shoot was this past weekend. I was really nervous because it was my first shoot, two parents, three kids, and I would be battling the midday sun. 

 

Still I set out with my camera, props, blankets, and reflectors just in case. And of course I brought along my amazing husband who helps me and supports me in everything I do. Yeah, even with the reflector, there were a few minor shadows.

Yeah, the kids didn’t all cooperate and smile at just the right times.

 

Yeah, when we got out to the sunflower fields most of them had turned black.

 

Yeah, at times it felt like I had failed as a photographer and didn’t get many good pictures.

BUT when I got home and began digging through the 300+ photos in photoshop 12, I found some amazing and fun photos I could use and give to this awesome family.

 

The best part was that even though the kids acted up, the weather didn’t cooperate a hundred percent, and many things didn’t go as I had planned, I still had a blast and so did they. Lots of laughs, fun, and a memory that will last a lifetime.
